০৪	বর্তমানে সরকারি চাকরিতে ৫৬ শতাংশ নিয়োগ হয় কোটার ভিত্তিতে আর ৪৪ শতাংশ হয় মেধার ভিত্তিতে।	At present 56 percent of government jobs are recruited on quota basis and 44 percent on merit basis.
০৫	এতে মেধাবী শিক্ষার্থীরাই শুধু বঞ্চিত হচ্ছেন না, জনপ্রশাসনও দক্ষ জনবল থেকে বঞ্চিত হচ্ছে।	By this, not only the meritorious students are being deprived but also the public administration is being deprived of skilled manpower.
০৬	আন্দোলনের একপর্যায়ে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা জাতীয় সংসদে কোটা থাকবে না বলে ঘোষণা দিয়েছিলেন।	At one stage of the movement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in the National Parliament announced that there will be no quota.
০৭	আর আন্দোলনকারী সাধারণ ছাত্র অধিকার সংরক্ষণ পরিষদের নেতারাও প্রধানমন্ত্রীর কথায় আশ্বস্ত হয়ে প্রজ্ঞাপন জারি না হওয়া পর্যন্ত তাঁদের কর্মসূচি স্থগিত ঘোষণা করেন।	And being assured by the speech of the Prime Minister, leaders of the protesting General Students’ Rights Protection Council also announced the suspension of their programs until the notification issued.
০৮	এর আগে সড়ক ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদেরের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে এক মাসের মধ্যে সমাধানের বিষয়ে সমঝোতা হলেও সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীরা তা মানেননি।	Earlier, at the meeting with Minister Obaidul Quader, Roads and Constructions, it was said to have had been resolved in a month, the general students did not agree to the solution.
০৯	প্রধানমন্ত্রীর ঘোষণার পর স্বাভাবিক কারণে সবাই ধরে নিয়েছিলেন, কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলন পর্বের ইতি ঘটবে, শিক্ষার্থীরা ক্লাসে ফিরে যাবেন।	After the announcement of the Prime Minister, everyone took it for granted, quota reform movement will come to an end; the students will return to class.
১০	শিক্ষাঙ্গনে শান্তি ও স্থিতিশীল অবস্থা ফিরে আসবে।	Peace and stability will come back to the educational premises.

১২	আমরা বিস্ময়ের সঙ্গে লক্ষ করলাম, আন্দোলনের তিন নেতাকে ডিবি অফিসে চোখ বেঁধে ধরে নিয়ে যাওয়া হলো, যদিও পরে পুলিশ এটিকে ভুল–বোঝাবুঝি বলে সাফাই গাওয়ার চেষ্টা করেছে।	We were surprised to see that the three leaders of the movement were blindfolded and brought to the DB office, although the police tried to prove it as a misunderstanding later.
১৩	এরপর কবি সুফিয়া কামাল হল প্রশাসন কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনে যুক্ত থাকার কারণে তিন শিক্ষার্থীকে মধ্যরাতে হল থেকে বের করে দেয়, পরে সমালোচনার মুখে তাঁদের ফিরিয়ে আনতেও বাধ্য হয়।	Then the Administration of poet Sufia Kamal forced three students from the hall because of involvement in the quota reform movement and later in the face of criticism, compelled to bring them back.
১৪	কোটা সংস্কার আন্দোলনের সঙ্গে জড়িত নেতা তো বটেই, সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীরাও ভয়ভীতিতে আছেন।	The leaders involved in the movement of quota reforms, the general students are frightened as well.
১৫	কখনো বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন, কখনো সরকার-সমর্থক ছাত্রসংগঠনটি ইন্ধন দিচ্ছে।	Sometimes the university administration, sometimes the government-supported student organization is fueling in the matter.
১৬	জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রণালয়ের সচিব বলেছেন, তাঁরা প্রধানমন্ত্রীর নির্দেশনার অপেক্ষায় আছেন।	Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry said that they are waiting for the Prime Minister’s direction.
১৭	প্রধানমন্ত্রী সেদিন সংসদে ‘কোটার প্রয়োজন নেই’ বলে ঘোষণা দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি ক্ষুদ্র নৃগোষ্ঠী ও প্রতিবন্ধীদের জন্য বিশেষ ব্যবস্থা রাখার কথাও বলেছেন।	The Prime Minister, in the Parliament, announced that there is ‘no need of quota’ but there will be a special arrangement for small ethnic groups and disabled people.
১৮	বিশেষ ব্যবস্থাটি কী হবে, সেটাও প্রশ্ন বটে।	It is also the question – what the special arrangement will be.
১৯	সংসদীয় কমিটিতেও সাংসদেরা কোটা পুরোপুরি বাতিল না করে সংস্কারের পক্ষে অভিমত দিয়েছেন।	In the parliamentary committee, the MPs gave their consent not to cancel the quota completely but a favor to the reform.
২০	ফলে বিষয়টির একটি দ্রুত সুরাহা জরুরি।	As a result, a quick solution of this is necessary.
২১	আমাদের সংবিধানেও অনগ্রসর জনগোষ্ঠীর জন্য বিশেষ সুবিধা দেওয়ার কথা রয়েছে।	Our constitution has also clauses to provide special privileges for the disadvantaged population.
২২	সাধারণ ছাত্র অধিকার সংরক্ষণ পরিষদ যে কোটা সংস্কারের দাবিতে আন্দোলন করেছিল, তাদেরও মূল কথা ছিল কোটা বাতিল নয়, যৌক্তিক পর্যায়ে নিয়ে আসা।	The main issue of the general student rights conservation council was also not to cancel the quota, but to bring it to a logical level.
২৩	যেখানে লাখ লাখ শিক্ষার্থীর ভবিষ্যৎ জড়িত, সেখানে জেদাজেদির কোনো সুযোগ আছে বলে মনে করি না।	Where there is the involvement of the future of millions of students, I do not think there is any chance of disputes.
২৪	তরুণদের মনের ভাষা সরকারকে বুঝতে হবে।	The government have to consider the minds of the young people.
২৫	তাই সরকারকে এমন সিদ্ধান্তে আসতে হবে, যাতে আন্দোলনকারীদের দাবি পূরণ হয়, আবার অনগ্রসর জনগোষ্ঠীও বঞ্চিত না হয়।	So the government has to make such a decision that will fulfill the demands of the protesters, and not deprive the disadvantaged population.
২৬	আন্দোলন শুরু হওয়ার পর প্রায় তিন সপ্তাহ হতে চলেছে।	About three weeks have passed after the start of the movement.
২৭	আন্দোলনকারীদের সঙ্গে আলোচনাকালে সড়ক ও সেতুমন্ত্রী ওবায়দুল কাদের যে এক মাসের সময়সীমা নিয়েছিলেন, তারও বেশি বাকি নেই।	The one-month deadline taken by Obaidul Quader, Road and railway minister, at the discussion with the protesters, is near to end.
২৮	মহান মে দিবস, পবিত্র শবে বরাত, বুদ্ধপূর্ণিমা ইত্যাদি মিলে এক সপ্তাহের বেশি সরকারি অফিস বন্ধ থাকবে।	Great May Day, holy Shab-e-barat, Buddha Purnima etc., will cause government offices to be closed more than a week.
২৯	প্রধানমন্ত্রীও যুক্তরাজ্য ও সৌদি আরব সফর শেষে দেশে ফিরেছেন।	The Prime Minister has also returned to the country after the tour to the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
৩০	এ অবস্থায় আন্দোলনকারী তো বটেই, দেশবাসীরও প্রত্যাশা, দ্রুততম সময়ে বিষয়টির সুরাহা হোক।	In this situation, not only the protesters but also the people of the country expect, the matter will be addressed at the earliest time.
৩১	কেননা, কোটা সংস্কারের বিষয়টি ঝুলিয়ে রাখা বা এ নিয়ে সবাই ধোঁয়াশার মধ্যে থাকুক, এটা কোনোভাবেই কাম্য হতে পারে না।	It is because, hanging the issue of quota reforms, or keeping all in smoke, cannot be desirable in any way.
৩২	সমস্যাটি যত ঝুলে থাকবে, গুজব ততই ডালপালা মেলতে থাকবে।	As long as the problem hangs over, the rumors will get branches.
৩৩	আমরা এই বিষয়টির একটি দ্রুত ও ন্যায়সংগত সমাধান দেখতে চাই।	We want to see a quick and equitable solution to this issue.
